Happy guests and incredible light.

This summer turned out to be one of the most memorable in a long time. It was full of movement, changing light, and quiet moments that reminded me why Iceland’s nature never stops inspiring me.

I spent much of the season in the Highlands, a place I’ve explored many times before, yet it still feels new every time I return. No matter how familiar it seems, the land always manages to surprise me.

Camping in the Fjallabak Area

One of the real highlights was a camping trip in August. The idea of that trip was to be agile and able to follow the "good" weather we were quite lucky and we managed to spend most of our time in the Fjallabak area in the southern Highlands a region that never fails to impress.

The weather was kind to us, it was as can be expexted mixed and occationally with that soft summer light that makes every color stand out. We did several hikes, which is always a rewarding way to take in the landscape.

Walking lets you slow down and notice the small things, the textures in the sand, the green tones of the moss, and how the view opens up the higher you go.

From the hilltops, the Highlands stretch endlessly in every direction.

From a photography standpoint, this was one of the most fruitful trip I've done in a long time, each day brought something new early mornings filled with stillness, and long evenings with warm golden light that made it hard to stop shooting.

The group made the trip even more special.

Everyone was curious and open minded, eager to learn and experiment.

At camp we shared ideas, laughed a lot, and enjoyed the simple rhythm of being outdoors together.

A Different Perspective – Drone Photography

Later in the summer, I led another trip, this time we focused almost entirely on

.

Seeing Iceland from above is something else entirely.

Rivers form beautiful, abstract shapes across the black sands. Mossy hills take on soft, flowing patterns, and the mix of ice, lava, and water looks almost unreal.

What might seem familiar from the ground often becomes completely new from the air.

It’s like rediscovering places you thought you already knew.

Drone photography also changes the pace, one spends more time observing, waiting for the right light and composition befyre taking off.

Everyone found their own style, and it was inspiring to see how differently people viewed the same landscape.

Reflections on the Season

Looking back, this summer was full of good memories, the people, the journeys, and the endless beauty of Iceland itself.

Whether hiking through the Highlands or exploring from above, I was reminded again and again how powerful it is to see the world with fresh eyes.

What stays with me most are the quiet moments: the first light of the morning, the laughter at camp, and those fleeting seconds when everything just comes together.

Iceland has a way of grounding you and inspiring you all at once.

As the season winds down, I feel grateful for the places I’ve seen, the people I’ve met, and the chance to keep exploring this remarkable land with a camera in hand. And yes, I’m already looking forward to next summer.
