Thor Photography is offering a unique photography workshop in Iceland spanning 9 days and 8 nights 

of Icelandic adventure where we focus on capturing the breathtaking landscape in Iceland from above. 
This is a drone based workshop with the main focus on the highlands of Iceland along with the south coast. 

  • In a nutshell

    Join us for an unforgettable adventure on this drone-based workshop, 'Iceland from Above.

    Together, we’ll explore the breathtaking vistas of Iceland, capturing stunning photographs from the skies.

    With a maximum of just five participants, we ensure a personalized experience, taking you to those hard-to-reach highlands and secret locations that most never get to see.

    The highlands is one of the biggest unspoiled area in all of Europe and if you ask me, it's just made for drone photography.

  • Getting to Iceland

    You want to fly into Keflavík international airport ( KEF)

    From there you you have options of either take a Taxi or the flybus to Reykjavík. 

    It's about 40 min drive from the airport to your hotel. 

  • Physical Requirements:

    This workshop will not include any difficult hikes.
    But hey this is Iceland so can be very revarding getting to a higher vantage point. 
    In case we take on a hike it will be optionlal to partake. 

  • Day by day plan

    Day 1:  Arrival Day (19th July)

    You'll land in Iceland at Keflavík airport where you can either take the fly bus or a taxi to our hotel in Reykjavík, we'll then meet that night for a welcome dinner where we get to know eachother and go over the plan for the coming days. 

    -Overnight in Reykjavík.

    Day 2-3-4: 

    We leave Reykjavík early and head directly up to the highlands, where we'll spend the next few days exploring the nature reserve area Landmannalaugar.
    On the menu is waterfalls, deep canyons, black sand deserts, moss covered mountains, braided rivers, colourful volcanic craters and the list goes on and on, simply a feast for drone photography.


    -Overnight in Hrauneyjar

     

    Day 5

    We'll go for a sunrise shoot before coming back for breakfast and check out, 
    We'll then make our way through the highlands via Fjallabak nyrðra a stunning mountain pass, and eventually we'll end up near Glacierlagoon in SE Iceland, we'll travel a long way but no worries there is plenty to shoot. 

    -Overnight in Glacier lagoon area.

    Day 6 

    We'll continue to explore glacier lagoon area along with stops at Vestrahorn. 
    We have a lot to chose from here such as severl outlet glaciers, black sand beaches, stunning mountains etc.

    -Overnight in Glacier lagoon area. 

    Day 7 

    Afer breakfast and check out we'll make our way towards Vík, the southern most populated area in Iceland. 
    We'll have several braided rivers along the way as well as mountains and green gorges. 

    -Overnight in Vík

    Day 8: 

    This is our last day on the road and the plan is to travel yet another mountain road or Fjallabak Syðra where our main subject will be the famous Mt. Maelifell among other lesser know locations such as Rauðibotn, Axlarfoss and Markarfljótsgljúfur canyon to name a few, we'll then eventually end up in Reykjavík where the tour concludes.

    Day 9 (27th July)

    This is your last day in Iceland you can decide if you want't to stay on for a few days. if you have time or you might want to enjoy a dip into the Blue Lagoon which is in the neighbourhood of Grindavík, before you head out towards Keflavik International Airport for the return flight to your country of stay, taking with you memories and photographs from an unforgettable adventure.

    • Transportation throughout the workshop in a 4x4 Sprinter Van

  • Students will learn

    • We go over how to set up your drone properly.

    • We go over safety aspescts of drone flying in various conditions.

    • How to create compelling and enticing landscape compositions.

    • How to properly expose for an image throughout all variety of light invluding prime and non-prime lighting conditions.

    • How to utilize motion blur to capture dramatic seascapes and waterfall images.

    • Workflow techniques for Lightroom and Photoshop.

    • Much, much more!

  • You need to bring

    • A drone

    • A DSLR/mirrorless camera or equivalent

    • Filters for both your drone and your camera.

    • A variety of lenses - a wide angle lens will be your most used on this trip.

    • A sturdy tripod

    • Multiple memory cards

    • Extra batteries

    • Laptop

    • Photoshop and Lightroom installed on your computer (at least the trial versions)

  • General info

    We do not aim for a fixed itinerary apart from where we are staying. 
    The weather in Iceland can be extreamly changable and often we need to work around that. 
    Despite being a drone photography focused workshop I highly recommend bringing your camera gear as there will be oportunities for that as well. 
    We will however mainly be focused on taking to the air and capturing the stunning landscape from a birds eye veiw.
     

    A packing list will be sent out prior to the workshop along with list of what is recommended to bring, gear wise.

Deposit: $500 USD

A $500 USD non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your space for this workshop.

The remaining balance is due on April 15th , 2026 via banktransfer only.

If the remaining balance is not paid in full, your space will be forfeited. 
Minimum 4 participants is needed for this workshop to go ahead.
