Chasing Light Photography Workshop
With Thor & Sean Parker
* Single supplement adds $900 USD
Thor Photography and Sean Parker are offering a photography workshop in Iceland spanning 10 days and 9 nights,
where we will be travelling Snæfellnes peninsula and the South coast.
It shouldn't be needed to introduce the south coast of Iceland to anyone as it has been one of the
most popular area to visit for many years and for a good reason as the scenery is spetecular around every corner.
Snaefellsnes peninsula is however often discriped as miniture Iceland as you can find most of geoligy features Iceland has to offer in a relativly small area,
such as riolith colorful mountains, glacier, waterfalls, amazing seascapes and not to mention the picturesq mountain Mt.Kirkjufell.
Travelling to Iceland:
You will want to fly into Keflavík ariport. From there we recommend using the flybus to get to the capitol, Reykjavík (about 40km).
We recommend Flybus+ which will drop you off at the doorstep of our hotel in Reykjavík.
This workshop will include some moderate hikes on uneven ground and loose gravel. We'll not take on any serious hikes but getting to a little bit elevated view in the highlands is very rewarding and gives you a great and unique perspective.
Where are we staying?
We will be lodging at a variety of hotels throughout our stay, we begin and end in Reykjavík but we'll be staying at a great hotels throughout the workshop. These accommodations are beautiful and conveniently located for our shooting locations.
Black sand beaches
and many other lesser known locations
In a nutshell.
This workshop is covering some of the best parts in the Iceland like Snaefellsnes and the South Coast which holds byfar many of Iceland's most picturesque locations like Vik and the surrounding area, black sandy beaches, majestics waterfalls and more.
This time of year also marks the beginning of the Aurora season and we will be hunting them whenever the conditions will be favourable.
Since the weather can be quite changeable in Iceland we always take the weather into account when we decide what location we choose to shoot at any given time.
In early November we have sunrise around 9 am and sunset around 5 pm so good chance of soft golden light for the most part of the day which should allow for a great photography oportunities.
Day 1: Arrival Day
Upon arriving to Iceland, we suggest using the FlyBus service from Keflavik Airport to the host hotel. Taxis are also available near the terminal building.
The FlyBus service is located right outside the terminal building and the cost is around $45USD each way. Book online using the FlyBus Plus service which will drop you off at your hotel. You can book a round trip to take you back to the airport after the tour.
Book FlyBus online:
1. Visit https://www.re.is/flybus
2. Choose the FlyBus+ service which will ask for your hotel information.
3. Pay online.
Accommodation in Reykjavík
Days 2 & 3:
We leave Reykjavík early and head west to our first locations. The exact locations depend on weather conditions, but Snæfellsnes is packed with good location and the most famous of them all is probably Mt. Kirkjufell.
Accommodation in Snaefellsnes
We'll either shoot sunrise before we leave the peninsula or leave early and head towards the south coast, depending on the weather and the conditions we might stay a bit longer and explore more of the peninsula.
Accommodation in Vík area.
Glacier lagoon will be our playground for the next few days. But before we get there we need to drive big part of the south coast so we will stop at hand picked location.
The Glacier lagoon area is probably one on the most famous places in Iceland with its floating icebergs. Just below the lagoon is the mystical diamond beach. On one of the days we are staying in this area we will visit Vestrahorn, a raw mountain with many compositional options like sand dunes, reflection and waves.
If conditions will allow we will visit an ice cave.
Accommodation in Glacier lagoon area.
After shooting sunrise at the lagoon we will start to make our way west towards Vík where we will be photographing the stunning seascapes of Dyrhólaey and Reynisdrangar amongst other things.
Accommodation in Vík area.
This is our last day on the road. We will shoot a sunrise near Vik and then checkout of our hotel and start making our way back towards Reykjavík. We might stick around at the south coast and shoot sunset or drive towards Reykjanes peninsula and explore there a bit before we get back to Reykjavík.
Accommodation in Reykjavík.
Day 10: (Departure day)
This is your last day in Iceland. If you have time, you might want to enjoy a dip into the Blue Lagoon which is in the neighbourhood of Grindavík, before you head out towards Keflavik International Airport for the return flight to your country of stay, taking with you memories and photographs from an unforgettable adventure.
Again, we recommend using the FlyBus+
