In 2023, January 30th - February 5th you can join Thorarinn Jonsson and award winning photographer Peter Gordon of Explore light on this
7-day adventurous photography workshop in the captivating landscape in Senja and the Lyngen Alps, Norway.
Does some epic photography, adventure, snow mobile in the Lyngen Alps andlots of laughing in Northern Norway sound like a good plan?
We have a brand new trip to take you on next year and we feel we have found some untapped locations plus of course some that are becoming more iconic in the area.
Big mountains, epic fjords, cute little cottages, single tree heavan and northern lights. Plus there’s no one around at lots of the locations so it’s a real treat.
On top of that we have a snow mobile tour included to get us to some untouched snow at altitude.
Travelling to Norway:
You will want to fly into Oslo and connect through there to Tromso, tour begins and concludes at Tromso airport.
This workshop is easy for anyone, we'll not be taking on any difficult hikes.
Where are we staying?
We will be lodging at 3 locations during our stay in Senja. The accommodations are beautiful and conveniently located for our shooting locations.
Beautiful fjords of Senja
The undiscovered Lyngen Alps
and many other lesser known locations
In a nutshell.
This workshop is covering some of the best parts of Senja Island in northern Norway which is located at 3 degrees north of the arctic cirlce, where we can experiance some magical arctic winter light.
This time of year we have sunrise around 9am and sunset around 3PM which will allow for beautiful light all day long and with Aurora season in full swing we will be hunting them whenever the conditions will be favourable.
Since the weather can be quite changeable in this part of Norway we always take the weather into account when we decide what location we choose to shoot at any given time.
Our base for this 7-day winter photography adventure will be the Senja Islands and the Lyngen Alps in northern Norway. This usually stunning area becomes even more magical and striking
with its snowy mountain peaks, turquoise seascapes, clean beaches, dramatic fjords, and fingers crossed the Northern Lights.
At this time of year, the light is soft all day sunrises come later and sunsets earlier so we aim to capture both every day and stay out shooting throughout.
One of the most exciting aspects of this workshop is the challenge posed by the weather, which can be changeable and means that we could be photographing in bright, clear conditions or shooting snow and ice. We’ll keep a flexible itinerary to capture the best the weather brings us. You will be able to try your hand at creative compositions using tripods and long exposure techniques.
If the skies are clear we’ll also try northern lights where possible. If the lights are not cooperating we can always do some post-processing in the evenings and enjoy socialising with the other participants.
The pictures below give you a great idea of what we are aiming for.
